Models and Artists Needed for Breast Cancer Awareness Calendar Shoot

June 04, 2014  •  Leave a Comment

This year Kristian Colasacco Art & Photography is doing an artistic calendar with 100% of the profits being donated to charities to benefit cancer research and awareness.  I've held off from doing this project in the past because I didn't have a concept that I felt was original enough and good enough to represent both my brand and also be impactful to the cause.  But now, I'm very excited to be able to move forward toward telling the story of you.  We'll also be doing some video and audio interviews for anyone who'd like to be able to tell their story.

The Concept
The overall concept is to use handmade (or computer art) from real people who would like to contribute their designs toward the project. It can be whatever you want as long as it's cancer related including the abstract.  Work needs to be PG-13, anything obscene will not be accepted but can otherwise be whatever you feel.  Any medium is okay including photography, painting, computer graphics, etc.  Each submission will be required to sign a release form allowing for the use of their copyrighted materials for use and promotion of this project but the copyright owner will otherwise keep all ownership of their art.

Models will need to be nude in the photos but the final photos will not show anything that would keep the calendar or the photos from being able to be shown to anyone.  We use a variety of techniques from posing, to creative use of shadows and design to ensure that we have usable photos.  Your privacy will be protected and no photos will be used without a signed release from the model.

Also, you do not need to be a cancer survivor in order to participate.  Everyone is eligible and we'd love to have a great mix of survivors as well as people who want to raise awareness united together.

Why nude?
Because of the style that the calendar is being shot in and to provide a consistent look for each part of the series.  The story that we are telling is one of strength, courage and pride and we want our models to exhibit those qualities.  Poses will be similar to those found in the ESPN The Body Issue and won't be anything that a person would be ashamed for anyone else to see. You can see examples at this link.  Click Here

I do not care about your body type, age (although you must be over 18) or any other factors, if you want to be involved you will be and I expect to have a wide variety of people.  But know this, I am an expert at posing modern women and will make sure that you look great.  It's what I do. Most women, even people who come in shy or unsure about themselves feel very empowered after a session.

Models will have items to pose with as well if they desire.  You can bring your own props and we'll also have a few on hand to choose from.  We also use fabrics to help add to the overall look.

When will we shoot?
August 24th beginning at 1 PM at the GFWC Dade City Woman's Club- 37922 Palm Avenue, Dade City, FL.  Once you're there, your total time should be right around 30 minutes or so.  Some will be shorter, others will take longer.  That includes time spent in makeup and hair as well as the shoot itself.

How will the calendar be setup?
This is what I actually think is very cool.  Each person who orders a calendar will be able to go through the gallery and have their calendar custom built using the photos that they want to use and ignoring the ones that they don't like.  The whole process is done online.  Also, for those who are very shy but really feel a strong desire to be a part of this project, you can request that your photos remain private and not be published with the rest of the gallery although, I strongly encourage you to make them public.

I'd like to show a few examples of what the concept looks like when actually produced.  These photos were not done with the Breast Cancer Awareness theme in mind and some contain some mild nudity which would not be in the calendar shoot either.  They are simply meant to help you understand the idea behind the actual shoot.

If you have any further questions or you are ready to be a part of this project, please email me at [email protected]. I need to know if you want to model or if you want to submit art.

As a "Thank You", all participants will also receive $50 off any future Luxury Boudoir or Modern Woman's Portrait Session.
