The Facts

Breast Cancer is the most common cancer amongst American women
Second leading cause of cancer deaths for women
Approximately 1 in every 8 women will develop breast cancer during their lifetimes.
Since 1990 Breast Cancer rates and Breast Cancer deaths have been steadily declining
Breast Cancer is expensive. Breast Cancer costs anywhere between $50,000 and $100,000 while the median U.S. income is $49,000. 43% of American women skip treatment and prescriptions because they can't afford it.
Women are freaking awesome, they bring joy, love and life into this world. Something that so profoundly affects our women affects us all. Without them we lose our joy, our love, our lives and most importantly, we lose our awesome.

A little background about this project

For a few years I've wanted to get involved in the awareness campaign but didn't have something that was different from what other photographers and artists were already doing. I wanted to do something that got the community involved and helped show the unity that all women and their male counterparts share.

I opened up this project to everyone that cares. Some of the participants are cancer survivors, some are going through treatments right now and some are women that wanted to show that they're together, strong and supportive.

My goal was to create artwork using the female form as a canvas. I wanted it to be simple, yet profound and also beautiful.

The Future of this Series

This is a project that was so personally satisfying for me and hopefully many others that I definitely plan to continue it annually. My hope is that people will see what we've done here this year and NEED to be involved next year. I've already got some ideas turning in my head. They're going to be big and it's going to be something that nobody's ever seen before.
