Girls love them because they make your waist look tiny and your boobies look big. Guys love them because...well, boobies.
THE BASIC CORSET
Not necessarily basic in terms of being plain, though they can be if that's what you prefer, I mean that they aren't any of the variations. No longer an uncomfortable apparatus that women were forced to break a rib to get into, corsets are now made of modern materials and while they may not be your favorite t-shirt with pajama bottoms, they're much better nowadays.
Here are some of our favorites along with the Amazon links to buy them. Also, a good place to get started and just get some ideas of what's out there for you. (Click on the pictures to be taken to Amazon where you can purchase)
Luxury Agent Provocateur and LaPerla
Babydolls
A short, flared nightie often just long enough to cover your tush. Often styled with an empire waist, a babydoll draws attention to your breasts and away from your stomach.
Teddies
A teddy is a single piece of lingerie that combines both a top and a bottom, much like a one-piece swimsuit. The amount of coverage provided by a teddy can vary from thong to brief, sheer to opaque, triangle to underwire.
Chemises
Perfect for any number of situations, including making breakfast (or lounging around waiting to be served breakfast), a chemise is a short, gown, often somewhere between mid-thigh and knee length. Chemises can be conservative and opaque or seductive and sheer (or some combination of the two). Because chemise are usually sized small, medium, or large and offer such a variety of coverage, they make fantastic gifts.
Bras
There are so many bras and types of bras available to you and we highly recommend getting a fitting done at a boutique shop to ensure a proper fit. But here are a few that we think are extra sexy.
Bralette's
Stockings
These words resonate almost every time we speak to a woman about why she's booking a boudoir session. Sure, the other reasons are there, "it's a gift for a significant other", etc. but the quotes you just read are common. They're heartbreaking. They're also our mission and they're why we do what we do. Making you feel beautiful isn't something that we take for granted, our lives revolve around it and we're damn good at it.
We've taken the time to make our Beauty and Boudoir events special and something that every woman who attends will remember for the rest of her life. Not only will you have photos of yourself that you may think aren't even possible anymore, you'll have memories of the way you're treated, the way you're pampered and the way that our professional pamperers make you feel. Do you want to be sexy? Do you want to be pretty? Do you need to feel beautiful? You will.
When
We will have 4 time slots available on June 24th and 4 time slots available on June 25th. Each time slot is 2 and a half hours which includes hair, makeup and your session.
For Information on How To Book Your Session
The Location
While we can't publicize the location quite like we wish we could, we're really excited about it. In the past, we've shot at places like the Ritz Carlton, The Don Cesar, The Castle and a beautiful boutique hotel. We look for a location with separate rooms for shooting and for makeup and hair and an area to wait in and review photos. I always look for a place with at least one defining feature that puts it over the top and this place has more than one. My favorite is the large jacuzzi/tub in the room that's going to make for amazing photos. We also have a huge window to let in light and an amazing king sized bed with a glass and marble shower.
We're Also Giving Away A Pampering Prize Package To One Lucky Winner!
Because we're so excited about this year, one lucky registrant is going to win a prize package worth over $300, essentially making your session free! Since this is a very limited space event, the odds of winning are very good! The winner will be drawn at random on June 10, 2017, from the list of beautiful women who are signed up and includes the following:
The Packages
Beauty and Boudoir Queen B Package- $800
Beauty and Boudoir Package- $425
Please book your session soon as our May event sold out in a matter of days and we're unable to add additional availability once we're full.
Follow this link for a list of available dates and times and to book your session. A $100/150 non-refundable retainer is due to reserve your date and time depending on the package you selected.

We always ask, in a few words, how would you describe your boudoir session? "Empowering", "amazing", "Best time ever!", "So much fun!", "confident", "feel like you can do anything", "Oh my goddess!" is what we hear in the short form. But the best description we've heard is a bit longer
"I started off nervous because I've never done anything like this before. When I was younger, I was sexy, but now, I've started to see myself as just a plain mom who spends her days doing the same things over and over and my life revolves around my kids. I feel tired, rundown and bored but never sexy. Every layer of clothing that I peeled off in front of the camera was like peeling away a little bit of the everyday mundane me and revealing my sexy self again. At first, I was so scared that I thought I was going to throw up but it all goes away so fast and before I knew it I was in full supersexy, supermodel mode. I loved it! When do we get to go again?" -Lisa A

Hi, I'm Kristian Colasacco. I'm an experienced wedding photographer in Tampa that covers the central Florida area. I specialize in working with women through weddings, modeling portfolios, boudoir experiences and modern women's portraiture. I have a masters degree in film and you'll never hear me say, "photography is my passion" because I think people who say that are lame. You will hear me say, "I don't do lame".

The location is one of Orlando's highest rated luxury resort hotels. Our spacious and beautiful suite features large, spa-bathtubs and all-glass, walk-in showers that make for breathtaking photography. The most difficult part of our session will be that you won't want to leave.
We are also offering portrait sessions for you or your family on the vast grounds or at any of the magical parks located throughout the Orlando area. As the parks will all be decorated for Christmas, we think that this is a great time for Family Christmas Card Sessions or engagement sessions for couples!
Our special pricing is as follows but our regular packages are also available options as well:
Boudoir Package: $275
Portrait Package : $225
Booking is extremely limited over this weekend and is first come, first served. Reservations require a $100 non-refundable retainer.

Do you know what a phalanx is? If you've seen the movie 300 or been in the military then you know exactly what I'm talking about. But very quickly for those who still aren't sure it's when a group of soldiers or people move together as one unit in a tight formation. A phalanx formation can easily win against a much larger opposition because they stay together when their foes split apart.
So how United are we?
"All Trump supporters are stupid and never graduated from college"
The problem is that when we see Trump supporters on TV or in the news, we're seeing the lowest common denominator. We're seeing the hillybilly that can barely write and uses circular reasoning to define why they like him so much. We see the racists. We're shown the lowest of the low. We're shown the sensationalists that make for better TV. We do not see my friends. Because they're normal. They're smart and they're not exciting and they don't serve the point.
"All Hillary supporters need to wake up. Most of them don't even have jobs and are lazy".
The problem is that when we see Hillary supporters on TV or in the news and alt-right websites, we're seeing the lowest common denominator. We're seeing the ones that can barely write and do choose to live off of the government. We're shown the lowest of the low. We're shown the sensationalists that make for better TV. We do not see my friends. Because they're normal. They're smart and they're not exciting and they don't serve the point.
Soon, this election will end and little will change with the way our country goes about its business regardless of who wins (Please watch the video posted above about what the President actually does compared to what people think he does, seriously watch it. It's a few minutes long and is a quick refresher on American government) but your friends will still be here and so will those in the community in which you've lived. These are the people that you liked and loved before the words "Trump and Clinton" were ever spoken. These are the members of your community. These are the people that will make a bigger difference in your quality of life than the POTUS ever will. These are the people that you should not be calling names or derogatory phrases. These are the people which only a moron would alienate.
Take a moment to reflect on all of the friends you have especially the ones that are different from you. You probably know someone who's voting for the other side. You probably have a great friend that's not the same sexual orientation. You probably have a friend or know people that are "so nice" that are other religions including Muslim and Islam. You probably know very smart, hardworking people of other races that you respect. Think about those people for a minute. Think about the words that we say and how they can hurt them. Do we really want it to be this way? Does this make anyone feel good? It doesn't make me feel good.
I been mostly staying off of Facebook a lot these days because I see so much hateful rhetoric going on between both sides and it really makes me want to smack every one of you with my long and powerful pimp hand. Trust me when I say, my pimp hand is strong but it's also attached to an arm that's attached to a shoulder that's attached to a chest that houses a heart full of love.
Who we elect as the next President probably won't be the end of the U.S. as we know it. That's sensationalism. But our divided nation could be. History has taught us that.
Plus, if I hear you calling any of my friends any of those names we're going to have a problem. I'm little and I don't fight fair. Don't mess with my friends.
Want to give him a gift that he'll never forget? Want to give yourself a gift that will boost your self-confidence? Want to be a princess for a day? Want a gift that you'll never forget? Boudoir sessions with Kristian Colasacco Art & Photography in Wesley Chapel, FL could be exactly what you're looking for.
About Us and About Your Session
We invite you to come and relax in our wardrobe room with some chocolates and a glass of wine. Enjoy the moment as you're turned into a whole new you by our in-house, professionally licensed hair and makeup professionals. We are a full-service studio and we specialize in working with women. We put hundreds of hours each year into training because we want you to be proud of the what we deliver. As a film school student and working professional we use knowledge of cameras, lighting, advanced cinematic techniques and artistic composition to help deliver eye-popping results that you'll always remember. We work with women of all ages, body shapes and levels of shyness.
Our boudoir sessions don't mean you have to wear your most revealing lingerie. We want you to wear whatever makes you feel awesome and sexy whether that's a sweater, his button-down shirt, lingerie from Agent Provocateur or simply nothing at all. And just because it's a Christmas gift doesn't mean that you have to stick to the holiday theme. Each session is customized to every individuals taste.
We don't just deliver some pictures, we stop time. We create a legacy. We can significantly change your life when you see that you are beautiful even though you haven't felt that way before.
Editing Philosophy
Most photographers edit your photos by using things called "actions" which are a lot like Instagram filters but actions only do an okay job because they're kind of a "push a button and hope" solution. We've been using Adobe Photoshop for 20 years and are Certified Professionals. We use manual techniques on each individual photo that give you a better result. Our goal isn't to make you unrecognizable to anyone seeing your photo (unless that's what you ask for). Our goal is to make you look incredible without anyone being able to tell that Photoshop was used. We might remove an inch here and add a cup size there. We clean your skin and remove the blemishes but we leave behind your texture so your skin just looks like great skin that's the envy of everyone who sees it. BUT IT DOESN'T LOOK LIKE TUPPERWARE.
Our Holiday Specials: (Prices expire November 15, 2016)

So why did I start off with that bit of depressing information? Because I want for people to understand exactly where I'm coming from and how I got to where I am now.
I first started my photography business in April of 2010. I had been living and working in Atlanta for a few years when suddenly everything turned bad for me. I lost my job that I liked (kinda, but it paid well). I put down a first months rent and security deposit for a house to move into that I found out was a scam at the moment that I pulled into the driveway with all my stuff. I had no place to live so I made a few phone calls and found out that my friend Jini was looking for a roommate. The problem was that I just spent almost all of my money on a house that I never got into. She let me in anyway and I used my unemployment to get caught up with her and pay rent for a few months while I got reacquainted with the area.
I already had experience in film and photography and really wanted to do that as a way to make money down here because it's what I loved. BUT I couldn't afford equipment
In April I got my tax refund and used that money to buy my first DSLR and a decent lens. Not a good lens but something better than the kit lens and started taking photos. Eventually Jini moved to Boston and I had to find another place to live. That was stressful but I found something.
That something turned out to be a trailer that I shared with 3 other guys that had all just graduated from high school along with one of their girlfriends. My share of the rent was about $200 a month. I was an adult with a masters degree sharing a trailer with 4 kids all under the age of 21. Why? Why would I do that? The answer is simple. I was building my business and it's all I could afford.
Sometimes I couldn't even afford that. You see, I was doing so many jobs at $40 or $50. I was doing them for free but I didn't want to do the work that you'd expect from a $40-50 photographer (though looking back I'm not happy with much of it) I was working 80 hours a week and usually struggling to the very last day of the month just to pay my bills. But every month I did and every month I resisted the urge to just give up. At any point I could have gone and picked up, "just a job" but made enough money to be comfortable.
And that's where I'd be right now and this blog wouldn't exist. None of the beautiful photos that I've created over the years would exist. I wouldn't have worked on an important Breast Cancer Awareness project last year. I wouldn't have sat and watched my clients literally gasp when they see a shot of themselves for the first time. I wouldn't be joyful and I wouldn't be happy. My purpose would not be being fulfilled.
Now as my business is growing and my rates have steadily increased Im looking forward to moving into a new place next year with 3-4,000 square feet of studio space for me to shoot in and create beauty. I still have chipped teeth. I still need a new car. I still don't spend much on myself.
I put every dollar that I get back into my business. I have the best equipment around. I take expensive workshops. I spend money on the studio and on wardrobe. I spend money on advertising and I spend time working with models to use for advertising and doing free work for charities and community entities simply because it makes me feel good. In 2016 I also plan to get my dental work finished (finally!) but I still may continue to rent cars when I need one.
I literally have no money but I'm building something and one day I expect to get the rewards from the hard work and the sacrifice.
I'm not as impressed by guys like Donald Trump that inherit millions and build it into billions quite the same way that I'm inspired by the story of the guy earned a dollar and then earned another dollar saved it, invested in something he loved and turned it into a life. To me, that's impressive because that's what I'm trying to do.
Do you have that drive? If you want to build your own business you're going to need it. There will be times when you don't know if you're going to be able to eat. There will be times when you realize that you're killing yourself basically for free. There will be times when you ask yourself if it's worth it and for a lot of people, it's not and for others it is. Are you willing to wake up at 6AM and not stop working until 10 that night? 10 days in a row? Are you willing to not see your friends? To have no social life? That's reality for the first few years.
Photography, is more than just getting a camera and a Facebook page.
You're going to fail. I've failed on so many things that I've tried to do. I've failed on projects that I really wanted to do but that just didn't work out. If you're afraid of failing you're never going to succeed at anything meaningful. You always see my successes but you don't see the fails. That's how I learn and without it I wouldn't have ever created the underwater photography, the beautiful boudoir, the senior walking out of the smoke from a plane in his cap and gown. I fail but I don't fear it. I welcome it. I learn from it!
Being good at business just isn't enough. You have to bleed for it or you're just not going to make it.
Unless someone is giving you things, you have to work hard. You have to sacrifice or you won't succeed. That's true for business and that's true for life. And when you do succeed, I want you to be thankful, thankful for the things you have and even more thankful for the things you don't have but drive you. I also want you to relay your story so that others can be inspired.
Much <3 and thank you for reading.

Thank you for visiting. I will need dancers in a variety of styles. Please message me if you want to be involved. Include a few notes about what kind of dance you like, your experience, a few unretouched photos and whether or not you are willing to shoot fine art nudes which will increase your odds of being selected. While I'm shooting a lot of non-nudes in this series, I do know a lot of dancers already that can do those shoots but finding someone comfortable doing shots like you see in this set is more difficult.

I am currently seeking models as listed below A Pinterest link is provided as a mood board to other shots that have a similar feel though we will still be doing it our own way and making it our own so don't expect an exact copy. Expect better!
If you are interested, please email me and tell me a little bit about yourself and include at least 2-3 photos one of which should be a headshot without any kind of skin corrections on it from an app and a 3/4 or full-length photo with the same criteria. They don't need to be professional but should be well lit so that I can see you. Also, please indicate what you might be interested in shooting and that you've read and are comfortable with our requirements/criteria.

The next set was done in the rain and though I hate to shatter illusions, we do this in-studio so that the conditions can be controlled and it's repeatable for all of my clients. And even though Mandy signed a model release, there are a few that she felt were too explicit to show on the blog and I agreed. They'll only ever see the light during client consultations. I like to think of it as an exclusive.
And now for a splash of color
Thank you as always for stopping by. If you're interested in finding out more information about being your own object of beauty and having it immortalized forever you can contact me at 813-409-1173 or email by following this link. Much <3

HOW TO APPLY
Please send an email to [email protected] explaining that you have read and understand the requirements of the shoot and that you want to do it. Please provide at least two photos of yourself which haven't been retouched or blurred by filters or an app. I need one well-lit headshot and one full-length or 3/4 shot. These do not need to be professional and can even be selfies. They should also be recent. Please let me know a little about your dancing experience. Modeling experience isn't necessary on a shoot like this as your dance experience will carry you.
Also, I've had some people tell me that my email replies go to their spam or junk folder sometimes. If more than a few hours have gone by and you haven't heard from me, please check that folder or message me through my business page on Facebook to check on it. I'm good at replying and at least acknowledging receipt.

A little background about this project
For a few years I've wanted to get involved in the awareness campaign but didn't have something that was different from what other photographers and artists were already doing. I wanted to do something that got the community involved and helped show the unity that all women and their male counterparts share.
I opened up this project to everyone that cares. Some of the participants are cancer survivors, some are going through treatments right now and some are women that wanted to show that they're together, strong and supportive.
My goal was to create artwork using the female form as a canvas. I wanted it to be simple, yet profound and also beautiful.
To Purchase Prints or a Calendar
Prints from this shoot are available as single prints or as a custom made calendar. Single prints can be purchased by following this link and 2015 calendars can be ordered for $50 by contacting me through email or by calling 813-400-3063. 100% of all profits will be donated to the National Breast Cancer Foundation for their use to continue researching, raising awareness and fighting breast cancer.
The Future of this Series
This is a project that was so personally satisfying for me and hopefully many others that I definitely plan to continue it annually. My hope is that people will see what we've done here this year and NEED to be involved next year. I've already got some ideas turning in my head. They're going to be big and it's going to be something that nobody's ever seen before.

I do not care about your body type, age (although you must be over 18) or any other factors, if you want to be involved you will be and I expect to have a wide variety of people. But know this, I am an expert at posing modern women and will make sure that you look great. It's what I do. Most women, even people who come in shy or unsure about themselves feel very empowered after a session.
Models will have items to pose with as well if they desire. You can bring your own props and we'll also have a few on hand to choose from. We also use fabrics to help add to the overall look.
When will we shoot?
August 24th beginning at 1 PM at the GFWC Dade City Woman's Club- 37922 Palm Avenue, Dade City, FL. Once you're there, your total time should be right around 30 minutes or so. Some will be shorter, others will take longer. That includes time spent in makeup and hair as well as the shoot itself.
How will the calendar be setup?
This is what I actually think is very cool. Each person who orders a calendar will be able to go through the gallery and have their calendar custom built using the photos that they want to use and ignoring the ones that they don't like. The whole process is done online. Also, for those who are very shy but really feel a strong desire to be a part of this project, you can request that your photos remain private and not be published with the rest of the gallery although, I strongly encourage you to make them public.
I'd like to show a few examples of what the concept looks like when actually produced. These photos were not done with the Breast Cancer Awareness theme in mind and some contain some mild nudity which would not be in the calendar shoot either. They are simply meant to help you understand the idea behind the actual shoot.
If you have any further questions or you are ready to be a part of this project, please email me at [email protected]. I need to know if you want to model or if you want to submit art.
As a "Thank You", all participants will also receive $50 off any future Luxury Boudoir or Modern Woman's Portrait Session.
You can follow me on Facebook
Set on a wooded location in Wesley Chapel complete with a lake, your photos will have a very authentic "fall feel" to them even if it is a balmy 90 degrees outside (Hey! I can't do anything about the weather). We have props such as bubbles and other fun things for the little ones, you can also feel free to bring some of their favorites. Throw in our custom "Pumpkin stand" set and there's going to be a large variety of feels to choose from. Got your Halloween costume already. Bring it!
I strongly believe in being a full-service studio and did not want to cut any corners for mini-sessions. Each client will receive an 8x10 print, a 4x5 print, 4 wallets and 3 digital files with print release license. Our prints are the highest quality available, using archival quality inks on Fuji Pearl paper to make colors pop in ways that will absolutely blow your mind. Your photos will be edited with the greatest of care to maintain a natural look and making only subtle changes to skin imperfections. Basically, we don't want anyone to say, "Oh, that was photoshopped".
Finally, even though it's a mini-session you're still getting that "Kristian Colasacco look" that you've loved on Facebook. I truly don't think you'll find anywhere else offering you this kind of quality, product and experience at only $50.
And just to kick things up a notch, one person will be randomly chosen in a drawing to receive a free 16x20 canvas print valued at $400 of any of their portraits that they choose from their mini-session.
To register:
1. Check the calendar for the time slot that interests you.
2. Pay $25 non-refundable deposit. You can use credit card through our Paypal link.
3. Tell me what date/time that you want in the notes section of your payment along with a name and an email address so that we can send instructions and directions to the event location. If we are rained out or it happens to snow, makeup dates will be the following weekend, Oct 12th and 13th.

All Brides 2 Be, LLC and Formalwear is our first featured vendor and is well deserving of that position. Their business is based on having the best in client service and personal attention. When it comes to meeting the high criteria that we have for recommended vendors, Jessica Rios at All Brides 2 Be, LLC and Formalwear definitely exceeds all of our expectations.
The two things that I noticed immediately when I met with Jessica was that she's very passionate about fashion and about dresses in particular. The other thing she was passionate about are her clients and finding something that's absolutely perfect for them.
During our meeting, we talked for close to an hour and a half and I don't think I asked her a single actual interview question. I know that if I were a woman looking for a gown, I'd want to meet with Jessica because she cares as much as I do about how I look and feel that when I'm wearing it. A quote of Jessica's that really struck me is "I absolutely love making women feel important and special. My priority is to give each client a custom experience for their individual needs". It didn't stick with me because of the fact that she said it, but because of the conviction that she used when she said it. It's one thing for a person to say something but it's truly awesome when you can feel just how much they mean it.
Jessica founded the boutique in 2011 after her own wedding in 2010 and even before it when she was a part of other weddings and special events in which she was discovering that she always needed alterations and modifications. She also did not want to have a dress for a special occasion that was being worn by others as well. Her goal was to have a dress fit for the individual instead of trying to make an individual fit the dress. Whether you are petite, very tall, pear shaped, curvy, plus size etc, you have a dress just for you at All Brides 2 Be & Formalwear.
When it comes to weddings, All Brides 2 Be provides beautiful and unique gowns for brides that can't be found anywhere else in the Tampa Bay area. They also provide formal wear for the entire party including dresses for Bridesmaids, and mothers of the bride and groom and tuxedo rental for the groom and his merry band of gentlemen. If you need a dress or formalwear for any budget and occasion, All Brides 2 Be should definitely be on your very short list of places to go.
All Brides 2 Be's Mission is to provide exceptional customer service and undivided attention. So that your individual needs can be met, please call (813) 406-0403 to schedule an appointment.

How and where did you meet?
Our close friends, Rhyan and Ashley ( who are now married as well), were dating at the time and Chad was in a band with Rhyan. I went to meet my friend, Ashley, and see her boyfriend’s band play. They were playing a gig a Pegasus lounge and Chad was so shy that he didn’t even look my way the entire night other than when Rhyan and Ashley introduced me to the guys in the band. We eventually became friends when I would come over to their house with Ashley to hang out.
Chad, What were your thoughts when you first saw her?
I thought she was smoking hot but was focusing on the gig.
What about you Tea?
I thought this guy is kind of rude even though he’s cute since he wouldn’t talk to me at all.
So Chad, tell us how you proposed.
We went to the Hillsborough River State Park for a hike and I proposed to her on the suspension bridge
And what was going through your mind Tea?
I totally had my mind on getting away from all the mosquitos that were swarming around me as it was November at the time. When he got down on one knee I couldn’t believe it but I also thought finally!
What was the best part of the wedding?
The best part was being able to celebrate with all the people we loved in a fun laid back kind of way. The song my Dad sung really stood out for us as it was truly heart felt and very sweet.
Finally, what are your plans for the future?
We hopefully will start touring nationally with our band while we figure out how to start a family at the same time
Tea and Chad would like to thank all of the wonderful vendors who contributed to making the wedding an amazing success.

This leaves me in a bit of an odd spot though because I'm insistent that 2:3 is a better format to shoot in than 4:5 (8x12 vs. 8x10) as it gives you more of an image. It's the same thing as viewing your a movie on a widescreen vs. a standard screen (the old TV's) and that's how I typically frame my shots for my clients. Well, now my clients have a hard time getting a frame that allows them to show my work in the way it was intended. That my friends is what we in America refer to as "no bueno".
If anyone's having a hard time finding frames that fit, I've made a little list from Amazon of frames that are Amazon Prime (you can get free 2 day shipping and it's free to try for 30 days so if you don't have it get it for your order), inexpensive and most importantly, fit your photos.
4x6 Photo Frames on Amazon
8x12 Photo Frames
16x24 photo frames
The most important thing to us is that we're able to make it easy for our customers to be able to display their new artwork on their walls without experiencing the frustration that I did.
If you know of any stores that have a supply of this size, please contact me directly or just post a comment and I'll be sure to update this list.
If interested please email me at this link and include which shoot you would like to do, or if you just want to do future shoots but nothing specific yet. Also, photos of yourself, why you're interested in a specific shoot, if you have any experience and the times/days that you're available for the designated amount of time. (I work with inexperienced all the time, don't worry if you're new)
If a shoot you are looking to be in has nudity, please send shots that show your body, likewise for topless. They don't need to be professional, they can be your cell phone off a mirror for all that I care. The main reasons are that they're required are: I need to see how you're going to look before we spend the time setting up a shoot and also it's important to know that you're comfortable like that. It's not good to set up a shoot and then have the model not show up because she's nervous. We shoot with a female assistant and models are permitted to bring a friend with them if they want to provided that they are non-disruptive. All photos submitted will be completely private (releasing something like that would be hurtful to both my reputation and my business, so please don't worry) Thanks for understanding.

For this blog, I don't really want to talk too much about the technical aspects of the shoot but since I know that other photographers and many beginners read my blog, I will touch on them in a few parts. Mainly though, I want to talk about the event itself and how breast cancer effects women and even men of all ages.
I asked Julie about her inspiration for the Pink Party for Hope event:
My inspiration for the event was my mother, we lost her to breast cancer when she was 55. I was a junior in high school te first time she battled breast cancer. Six years later there was another mass, this time it was a more aggressive cell type, that rapidly spread to her lymph nodes, spine, and rib cage. My mother was a beautiful woman inside and out. The treatments tear you about physically and mentally. I wanted to have the event, not just for awareness, but to support our friends that are survivors, and remember our loved ones that we lost.
The office is deep and narrow but there was enough room to hold the roughly 25 or so people who came along with snacks, refreshments and a very nice, homemade sangria. One of the touches that I liked was that each food item that was placed out had a meaning behind it which was shown on the placards.
We set up a small photo booth in the back. There were a few small technical challenges here. The room was very small, definitely not large enough for a backdrop with a stand and it had walls to both sides making the lighting a bit of a challenge as well. There was only one electrical outlet and there was no way to use any kind of backlighting because the backdrop needed to be hung on the wall in lieu of a stand. This is where a good photographer becomes creative and needs to rely on either one or two light sources. I used a strobe on the right with a diffuser instead of an umbrella because there wasn't enough room for the umbrella and then I used a continuous light with a softbox on the left. I also only had about 6-8 feet between my camera and the subjects as a maximum distance so I couldn't use a good portrait lens. Instead I used an ultra-wide lens and did the corrections to the distortion in photoshop. The main thing you want to remember is to just get the shots. I knew that these photos aren't for a magazine or anything else. They were meant for fun and to help give the girls something to remember it by. Always keep your end-goal in mind when setting up your shoot. Things won't always be perfect but you don't have to tell your client that, you're getting paid to accomplish their goal.
I want my friends and family to feel beautiful, which is why I wanted the silly photos. Statistics show us that 1 in 8 will be diagnosed with breast cancer, which holds true, even in our very small sampling, 2 of our 20 guests had been. Cancer is by no means a glamorous thing, but these are some very spectacular woman that are close to us that have been through it.
Finally a survivor named Amber told her story to the rest of the group that was there. She was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of only 24 years of age. The small space and intimacy of the group ensured that no eye was dry upon the conclusion of her speech. She also noted that her aunt, who was also in attendance had just been diagnosed as well. There are men and women of all ages being diagnosed these days. If there's one final thing that I learned, you must get yourself checked out and do self-exams, if you feel a lump, go to the doctor and be vigilant about getting a mammogram done.
I wanted to have a small intimate group. I wasn't sure how comfortable my little space would have been if I had try to go too big. I definitely felt the intimacy in our group last night when Amber shared her story, it was so much harder than I thought. I think for Amber it was theraputic to be able to share her experience. She was nervous ahead of time, and I told her not to worry about it, we didn't have an agenda, I wanted her to be there and have a good time. She responded, "no I want to, I think it helps bring awareness". I think for her that it also helps her to heal, and to really be able to say - this is my story, this is what I went through- and being able to say she got through it, when many others don't, it's an amazing story.
Thank you for taking the time to read, please feel free to comment if you have any questions or if you just want to share a story of your own or a family member's survival.
